Rich and Pretty was a really fun read. Every woman who has ever had a best friend will recognize themselves in the characters Lauren and Sarah. Alam writes the inner most thoughts of these women flawlessly.
Lauren and Sarah have been friends as long as they can remember. They’ve done everything together. They went to the same High School, the same college, and have been there for each other through everything. However, their friendship and closeness is threatened when they start to grow apart as they grow up. The girls are no longer fitting so seamlessly into each other’s lives and it starts to become more and more evident as Sarah gets engaged and starts planning her wedding. In an effort to reignite the closeness they once shared, Sarah asks Lauren to be her maid of honor and help with all the planning.
Sarah and Lauren quickly realize that their reasons for being best friends no longer hold up and it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain their close bond they developed as teenagers.
Rich and Pretty was a great read with great insight into the inner workings of the female mind and the craziness that is female friendship.
I highly recommend this book to all women, and I will definitely remain a fan of Rumaan Alam. Alam’s writing style is unique and engaging and deserves to be read!
Hope everyone reads and enjoys this book as much as I did!
